mini Beginnings

Welcome to the Mini Ministry blog! Mini because each topic is a short read with a focused topic. We’re here to encourage you, not take up your whole day. Mini because church plant kids’ ministries are often small to begin. And mini because, well, kids are little.

But don’t let the words mini and small make you think for a second that a small kids’ ministry = easy. It’s not.

We know firsthand that although the beginnings may look mini to others, the time, effort, care, and planning that goes into building a strong kids ministry is anything but mini. It is a mighty work, and it is well worth it. All the blood, sweat, and tears. (Ok, I hope there’s no blood). But those tears don’t have to be out of frustration, exhaustion, or loneliness. They can be tears of joy, seeing God’s hand at work even in the beginning stages.

We’ve been there, and it’s hard. That’s why Thrive Kids Ministry began—to help leaders like you feel supported, equipped, and excited about your ministry in these tough beginnings. Why do it alone when we can work together?

Whether you are the pastor, a staff member, a volunteer, or a kind-hearted soul who was handed the title of “kids min leader” and you’re still not sure you “qualify” - we are here to help you thrive. So take heart, ministry leader, and do not despise these small beginnings because God does not! Where you see something mini, he sees his mighty work unfolding.

“Do not despise the day of small things, for God is pleased to see the work begin.” Zechariah 4:10
